today being cinco de mayo, reminds me of the story i heard a few months back on how it started. my father-in-law, then working for van de kamps i think, needed to come up with a reason for sales during the spring. since mexican independence day was in september, coinciding with the holiday season, he and his co-worker decided to use cinco de mayo. at the time it wasn't even known as a holiday. getting some other partner food companies to pitch in, they put together a "cinco de mayo sale". and a holiday was born. just goes to show how much holidays are purely commercial rather than meaningful. 11:49 am

one of my favorite shows, extended play, has been replaced by X-Play. i've been watching extended play for years and have found their reviews to be excellent, along with the style and format of the show. frankly, the new show sucks. it's embarrassing to watch. no longer targeted at adults, it's like a show on mtv. flashy, annoying, and targeted at 12-20 year-olds. nothing against morgan personally, but i've never liked her on-screen personality on TSS. she's always come across as stiff and dull. on x-play she's even worse. when adam does a review, it sounds like he's actually played the game. when morgan does a review, it sounds like she's reading from a script, stiff, uncomfortable, and clearly has never sat down in front of the game. then there's the interaction between the two. adam has gone from being cute and cool to being a dorky, clown. they have a hard time talking to each other, and neither looks happy to be there. i'm not sure i can stand watching the show for much longer, which will be very unfortunate. please bring back extended play. 08:56 am
