brig/ it's short for brigitte, but people who know me always eventually shorten it to brig (that's with a soft "g"). pure laziness. my brother used to torment me when i was 4 or 5 by singing "london brigitte's falling down...". although my mum claims he wasn't, i still don't believe her. email: brig@eatonweb.com. aim: eatonweb.

hire/ i build the web that the user sees. web design, interface design, information architecture, graphics, programming... you name it, i've probably done it. i'm a generalist. in june of 2000, i started my own development studio. jungawunga.

site/ i started this site in 1996 as an attempt to showcase my graphic design skills, which shortly thereafter became web design skills. in january of 1999, being exceptionally bored at work, i decided to make it more than an online resume/portfolio. i wanted to be a part of the web community that i had been observing voyeuristically for so long.

weblog/ thus, the weblog was born, my weblog that is. it was a place to put bookmarks. i was constantly quoting articles that i could never find the links for again. a journal was born at the same time. i needed to vent my frustrations about how miserable i was at my job. (all the good bits have since been removed.) those ventings that actually had a topic, other than my job, landed in the rants section.

after i left that job, i couldn't find the energy or content to write a journal entry every day, so i dropped it and started pouring those thoughts into my weblog.

brig.nu/ in march of 2000, i realized that i missed those long entries, the things i sometimes wanted to write about were too long for my blog, but too stream of consciousness to be rants.

i'd recently bought brig.nu thinking to move my blog over to it. i was sick of the long url. but, jason was kind enough to let me move my blog to root. all he cared about on the site was his pantera blog.

portal/ back when there were only a few weblogs, i started a portal to keep track of them. a year ago, there were less than 50, today, there are over 1100. it's been mentioned in a few articles:
